Inaccessible Until Activated
With this feature, your funds are 100% secure and inaccessible while you're around. Before the timelock activates, it's cryptographically impossible for anyone—even your heirs—to access the funds. Each time you access your vault, the timelock resets, ensuring your assets stay protected. Only when the timelock expires does the inheritance protocol activate, allowing your heirs to access the funds.
Maintain Balance Privacy
Another great feature is that you don't have to disclose your balance to your heirs until the time is right. Your financial privacy stays fully protected, with your heirs only discovering the balance after the timelock expires and they use their key. This way, you maintain control and discretion over your assets until the inheritance is officially activated.
How Smart Backups and Inheritance Planning Work
Concerned that your heirs might struggle to access your funds? No need to worry! Our vault is "smart" for a reason. Even in your absence, your heirs will gain access to your funds through preset timelocks, ensuring your assets remain both secure and accessible when needed.
Setup Time-Lock
During the setup process, you can choose a period of up to approximately 15 months, after which alternative custody model(s) can be activated for your heirs. This ensures they won't have access while you're still alive, allowing you to establish arrangements for the future securely.
Activation
When you are not around or lose access to your keys, a preset alternative set of collaborative custody will become active after the timelock expires. This arrangement ensures that even if you cannot access your primary keys, your funds will remain accessible through a different custody setup.
Secure Recovery
21st Capital won’t be able to access your funds by itself, but once the timelock expires, our team will guide your non-technical heir(s) step by step using a different key setup. We will assist them in securely restoring your Bitcoin to a new arrangement, ensuring that your assets are protected and accessible.
